Do you owe work? Please come see me outside of class. I am available before and after school, periods 1 and 2 and 3 in the library, periods 6 and 7 in 176 and, if you need to make up a quiz or writing assignment, you may do so any period but your class.
Learning Targets: I can cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text, including determining where the text leaves matters uncertain.
I can determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in the text, including figurative and connotative meanings; analyze the impact of specific word choices on meaning and tone.
I can demonstrate knowledge of eighteenth-, nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century foundational works of American literature, including how two or more texts from the same period treat similar themes or topics.
I can write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, well-chosen details, and well-structured event sequences.
In class: Power Point review of this week's vocabulary. Quiz tomorrow.
"Spoon River" presentations. See rubric below.
At this point I should have everyone's character analysis sheets. Thank you to the many who go them in by the end of the day yesterday. If you were absent on Monday, you may turn in what you have completed NOW.
You have 10 minutes to practice your reading aloud two poems. Make sure you can read "trippingly". No hesitations or mispronunciations. Look over the grading rubic below.
To present, you must stand. Introduce your character and give a one line statement as to why you chose the person. This should move quickly.
