Friday, December 12 "Mariner" day 3 stanzas 39-93

Learning targets: 1) I can read, annotate, and analyze informational texts on topics related to diverse and non-traditional cultures and viewpoints.

 2) I can determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative connotative, and technical meanings; and analyze the cumulative impact of specific word choices on meaning and tone

3) I can determine two or more central ideas of a text and analyze their development over the course of the text, including how they interact and build on one another to provide a complex analysis and an objective summary of the text.

If you missed the vocabulary quiz yesterday, please make arrangements to make up the assessment anytime but during your class period.

In class: stanzas 39-92 of "Rime of the Ancient Mariner"

We will listen to a recording of the above stanzas. Please follow along. (anyone who is absent, this is the link:

When we have finished, work with a partner to review the text, answering any of the annotation questions and noting by number, thematic examples you find in the text.

I suggest you listen and read the complete poem. Note that will be finishing the poem up on Monday.
